Township Forums are the local element of Wigan Borough Partnership and contribute to the delivery of the Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement.
Hindley Abram Township lies in the centre of the Wigan Borough, bordered by the Townships of Ashton Bryn, Wigan North, Standish, Aspull Shevington, Atherton, Leigh and Golborne Lowton and covers an area including the electoral Wards of Hindley, Hindley Green and Abram, which constitute the three main towns within the Township. The Township also contains the areas of Platt Bridge, Bickershaw, Spring View and Bamfurlong. The main built up area of the Township is in the north, centring around Hindley, with the south west of the Township fairly rural with the Leeds Liverpool canal running into Wigan to the west of Abram and Platt Bridge. There was a large colliery based in Bickershaw, however this has been closed for some time and there is work going on to redevelop the site as part of the National Coalfields Programme which will include building around 650 new homes and a canal boat marina.

It asks residents about many different issues including how they feel about their local area, the services they receive and about local issues such as anti-social behaviour, litter and transport.
