Wigan North

Welcome to Wigan North Township page.

Township Forums are the local element of Wigan Borough Partnership and contribute to the delivery of the Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement

The Town of Wigan is split into two Townships, Wigan North and Wigan South. Wigan North contains the Town Centre and the areas of Beech Hill, Springfield, Swinley, Scholes and Ince.

Wigan North covers an area including the electoral Wards of Wigan Central, Wigan West and Ince, and covers the areas of Ince-in-Makerfield, Scholes, Springfield, Beech Hill and Swinley. The Township also contains Wigan Town Centre. It is bordered by the Wigan South Township, on the other side of the North Western railway line to the south, Standish, Aspull Shevington Township to the north and Hindley Abram Township to the east and is right at the heart of the Wigan borough. At the centre of the Township are the Town Hall, both Wigan Wallgate and Wigan North Western railways stations, Wigan Infirmary and the Pagefield and Parson’s Walk sites of Wigan and Leigh College as well as the Grand Aracade and Galleries shopping centres. The main Wigan Life ‘hub’, the Wigan Life Centre, will also be based in this Township with sites at either side of the Town Hall.
